High-quality child care produces a stimulating, secure and loving atmosphere for the little one.

Focusing on children's wellbeing and ecological exposures in child care centers is Essential for several reasons: Since they display exploratory behaviors that put them in direct contact with contaminated surfaces, they're more likely to be vulnerable to some contaminants found. They're also less developed immunologically, physiologically, and neurologically and are more prone to the negative effects of toxins and chemicals. Children spend a whole lot of time in child care settings. Many babies and young children spend as many as 50 hours each week, in child care.

Nationally, 13 million children, or 65 percent of U.S. kids, spend some part of the afternoon in child care and at California alone, roughly 1.1 million children five decades or younger attend child care. In this exact same condition, many adults might also be subjected as roughly 146,000 employees work 40 hours or more a week child care centers. Child care environments include substances which may be harmful for kids. Recent studies suggest that lots of child care environments might contain pesticides, allergens, volatile organic compounds from cleaning agents and sanitizers, and other contaminants which may be toxic to children's wellbeing.

Nevertheless, little is understood about what environmental and chemical exposures they might be getting in these configurations. To fill this gap, we quantified. Outcomes of the study were reported on the California Air Resources Board. Our findings help inform policies to lower accidents to children, encourage training and workshops to educate child care providers about methods to lower children's environmental exposures (ex. Using integrated pest management to decrease pesticide usage ), and search for future research.

HiMama is excited to announce the availability of Safe Pickup, a new upgrade to HiMama Attendance that streamlines dropoff and pickup time, and enables contactless check-in and check-out – all thoughtfully designed with family safety at its heart.

Safe Pickup makes check-out time easy, simple, and socially distanced for teachers and parents. For childcare providers, it’s a secure way to facilitate pickup amid COVID restrictions, while parents can save time by letting teachers know when they’re a block away, so their child can be prepared for pickup.

What’s more, we’re supporting this feature long after we put these COVID times behind us. With Safe Pickup, HiMama centers can continue to offer contactless check-in and check-out in the future, whether for public health reasons, convenience factors, or to provide flexible options for parents.

Ready to enable Safe Pickup at your center? If you have questions or need assistance navigating this new feature, please reach out to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we’ll get you set up. We’re here to help!

Want to envision how contactless check-in and check-out can work at your center? Read on!

Start Your Day with Contactless Check-in

If you’re using HiMama at your center, you already know about Contactless Check-in!  Launched in 2020, centers can choose to give parents the option to check in their children, mark them absent, and submit drop-off signatures, all from the free HiMama app on their phone. Parents can also add any notes for the day to give teachers the information they need.

Any check-ins, check-outs, or absences are automatically updated in your teacher and director dashboards, notifying you of classroom ratios and making attendance records a breeze. You’ll be able to act quickly when your center is overstaffed or understaffed, saving you money and helping you maintain state regulations.

NEW! Make Pickup Time a Breeze

At the end of the day, parents can mark their child “Ready for Pickup” right from the HiMama app. They can add their signature and hit Confirm, all without leaving the parking lot.

For teachers, there’s no need to keep a constant eye on the door! Safe Pickup allows teachers to stay focused on their children until a check-out notification is received. When that push notification arrives, teachers can prepare children to leave for the day based on who is ready for parental pickup.

Once teachers have safely ensured that the child has been returned to their parent, they can Confirm Check-out for the child and mark their day complete. We’ve carefully designed this procedure with safety as our top priority.

Make drop-off and pick-up easy, with an app your teachers and parents will love.

HiMama Attendance gives parents and teachers an easy, paperless, and secure check-in and check-out process, even in COVID-mandated distancing. We’re super excited to roll this out to our customers, and would love to set customers up at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

And if you’re not on HiMama yet, we’d love to demonstrate how you can streamline your attendance, stay on top of class ratios, and ensure safe pick up, all in a FREE 15 minute tour!

Note: This feature is only available for HiMama parents who have downloaded the HiMama mobile app (phone or tablet). This is not available via the parent website login.
